The Fire Risk Assessor Role

The role is ideal for a self-starter who is either a current fire risk assessor, from a fire service (fire safety), local authority building control or a health and safety background.

Day-to-day responsibilities are:

  • Undertaking fire risk assessments in accordance with nationally recognised legislation guidance in the Ardvernis-approved format, to a high standard in a timely manner.

  • Using the Riskhub software platform and on-site app to create fire risk assessments. Managing your own workload and property lists.

  • Communicate regularly and clearly with the operations team and continually manage expectations.

Ardvernis fire risk assessors must have a full, clean driving license and access to their own vehicle. The role includes a combination of travel to undertake site-based inspections, and computer-based assessment writing up and submission.

Essential experience:

1. A recognised fire risk assessment qualification

2. Experience of fire risk assessment to include residential and/or social housing properties

Desirable experience:

1. Qualification in a fire safety-related discipline (HNC or above)

2. Experience or qualification in building construction

3. Full membership of a relevant professional body (IFE, RICS, CABE, CIOB)

The Team

Reporting to the operations team, the fire risk assessor will be responsible for conducting site-based fire risk assessments on our clients’ largely residential portfolios.

You will receive ongoing CPD training to meet IFE learning criteria but will stay independently up-to-date on current fire safety legislation and best practice. You will become part of an engaged team that meets for regular training sessions and shares learnings and experience through an online forum.

The day-to-day operations of the business includes managing and growing our expanding national team of fire risk assessors, tracking and monitoring large amounts of data and liaising with clients to troubleshoot potential problems that could impact on their compliance needs and timelines. The company uses a proprietary, web-enabled management software system that is set to revolutionise the Fire Risk Assessment industry, and all staff receive full training.

Ardvernis is a leading fire risk assessment company, with both a busy Operations team in the office coordinating clients and workload, as well as a high quality workforce of Institute of Fire Engineers registered assessors who work up and down the country.

The HR Officer role

In this newly created role you will assist with driving business success across our Group companies. You will recruit, support and develop talent to help make our business a great place to work.

You will be familiar with employment legislation and have experience in generalist HR including recruitment, retention, employee development, grievances/disciplinaries and employee engagement.

Working closely with the existing HR support you will actively contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of HR initiatives and systems, whilst ensuring employment law and best practice are followed. You will record and process confidential information and promote equality, diversity and health and safety within our Group companies.

You should apply if you:

  • are CIPD Level 3 qualified (minimum)

  • have experience as an HR Officer or equivalent level (minimum 3 years)

  • have sound knowledge of HR functions including policies and procedures, recruitment and selection, employee relations and talent management

  • are focused on building a strong holistic HR function to support our growing teams are proficient in MS Office with a working knowledge of a HRMS is desirable

  • have outstanding organisational and time-management abilities

  • have strong ethics and reliability
